Dear Nicholas,
I know it has been a long time since we last talked, and I understand that so much has changed in your life over these years. What I want to ask you for now is a second chance.
Second chances don’t erase the past — they allow us to start fresh, even if it’s only in small ways. They’re about learning, growing, and opening the door to something new. I want to begin with even the tiniest step forward between us, because you are my son, and I love you more than words can say.
I would love to hear about your future plans. I understand you’re enrolled in business courses right now, though I’ve heard it might not be your first choice. What interests you most? What subjects excite you, and which ones feel most challenging? Do you see yourself continuing at community college and then transferring to a UC school, or would you like to apply directly to a university? What is your heart leaning toward? I’d even love to know if you’ve thought about fields like AI or anything else that inspires you.
I miss you very much, Nicholas. I’m not here to interfere or tell you what to do — I simply want to be part of your life in a way that’s supportive, respectful, and encouraging. I hope you can give me the chance to walk alongside you, even in a small way, as you step into adulthood.
With love,
Mom
